One of the things we’re best known for is FREE audio/video files that make the canine relaxation protocol easier. It may seem like a simple way to teach dogs to stay, but the RP is a lot more complicated than that. It’s designed to teach dogs prone to anxiety, stress, or over-arousal to bend over to you and relax, no matter the odd stimulus happen (sounds, movements, etc.). Hard to believe I’ve never done a dog relaxation protocol demo video before, but there you go. Below is a video of what it looks like when I do it with a normally behaving dog. In this case Clover first and then a short cut with Mr. Stix.

I kind of made the video in a hurry for a friend who recently needed to see it. I didn’t realize I cut my head off with the video angle until it was too late and I had NO intention of doing the whole thing again. Here you go. A video where my head is sometimes hidden. That’s how it works. I thought it might be useful for others, so I’m sharing it here as well.
It’s also kind of funny to see how closely Clover follows my every move. While she stays in place during the dog relaxation protocol demo, I’ll admit she doesn’t appear SUPER relaxed. She monitors everything, but otherwise doesn’t respond openly, and her posture is fairly gentle, which is pretty much the goal.
Other key data?
- I use stale Cheerios as a reward.
- Both dogs already know how to “walk in” on a mat, so that helps.
- I didn’t really give myself enough room to move left or right as was required on the first day of the canine relaxation protocol, but I adjusted as needed.
Canine Relaxation Protocol Demo Additional Notes
Within the last 6-8 months I have experienced that some smartphones stop playing the daily audio recording of the RP tasks in full which is very annoying. To fix this problem, I made YouTube videos of the daily records. Really just a photo with the sound playing. I think that fixed the problem.
You can find all the videos at the bottom of this page on our website.
Or, at the request of a video user, I recently put the RP in one every 15 days YouTube playlist for easy access and use.
Other dog relaxation protocol video demos?
If there are other things you would like to see demoed please let me know. For example, I should probably demonstrate the rigorous way of doing this for serious behavior change.
