Types of cat litter

Litter box should be filled with litter. You have to choose the right litter to fill it. Even if you buy the most expensive and largest cat litter box, it will be useless until you buy the right cat litter for it. Following are some choices:

Biodegradable Litter:

Litter items made up of paper, wood, corn or wheat. Although these are very environment friendly but some cats dislike these. In this case you can progressively add some biodegradable items in the regular litter so that you cat can get used to it. Pine pellet litter is one of the best litter in my opinion.

Biodegradable Litter

Scented Litter:

This kind of litter is normally used to cover the odor. This might be an excellent choice to prevent odor but BE CAREFUL, some cats do not like the artificial fragrance at all.

Scented Litter

Crystal Litter:

This litter is made up of silica gel. This is very permeable type of litter. This needs seldom changing as compared to some other kind of litters but it is expensive.  However, some researchers are not convinced with the long exposure of silica gel. Good for automatic cat litter box.

Crystal Litter

Non-Clumping Litter:

This is normally made up of clay. Now a days some manufacturers are trying to produce with some other materials. This needs replacement frequently. This is the cheapest litter amongst all. But sometimes it is stuck in the paws and will be tracked around the house and human efforts will be increased for no reason.

Non-Clumping Litter

Clumping Litter Box:

Clumping litter is also made up of clay but includes a sealant that engrosses the dampness and makes clumps. Usually Sodium Bentonite is used as a sealant. When it comes to cleaning, it is very easy to scoop but yet again it requires frequent changing. This is comparatively expensive than non-clumping litter.

Recycled paper.:

This is litter made from recycled paper that is turned into pellets or granules. Paper is dust-free, highly absorbent, and biodegradable. In pellet form, the paper doesn’t form urine clumps, but the granule form does.

Cat litter pellets:

Cat litter pellets has an anti-tracking concept that utilizes pellets rather than a more traditional “gravel” litter. You can typically get one full litter box out of each bag and depending on the size you choose, you’ll either get three or six bags.

Made of Pine:

Pine litter is made from sawdust, a waste product from lumber mills. The leading pine litter is Feline Pine, which earns the title of best cat litter at ConsumerSearch – not just among natural litters, but overall. The editors say it earns praise from both experts and cat owners for its effectiveness and value, though reviewers at PetSmart actually give it a lower overall rating than World’s Best.

Clay cat litter

After boxes of sand, the first innovation in cat litter was the development of clay litter. This is simply dried pulverized clay, which absorbs urine and gives the cat something to bury feces with. Cats can track clay crumbs around on their paws, making sweeping up after them a constant chore.

Can you put cat poop down the toilet?

It might seem like it won’t hurt but flushing a cat poop into our flush might not be a good idea remind me two reasons, one is contains a parasite which is dangerous for humans second is it make clog the drainage and make it completely useless

How often should you change cat litter?

It completely depends on what type of litter box using, most of the little boxes come with instructions on when to change the litter. and some little boxes you might have to change it twice a week and in others it might be required more than that. In automatic litter boxes you might have to change them only once a week.

After your chosen the letter box, you might want to see what type of cat litter you want to use as we have mentioned several type of litters above all of them comes with different type of requirements on when to change the litter
